Solar PV
Ensure your Solar PV system is operating at its best!
Why is it important to have regular service and reactive maintenance on my Solar PV system?
It’s important that your solar panels are operating at their maximum efficiency and operating correctly. Failure to keep on top of maintenance could reduce your solar generation, which would affect your payback term/the profitability of your Solar PV system.
We recommend an annual service to keep your solar panels generating efficiently and to ensure that your system is kept in full working order, where any fault or drop in generation is identified and resolved.
With average rainfall most PV panels are self-cleaning, but it is not uncommon to find that due to local weather conditions, vegetation growth and bird activity, your panels may require an occasional clean. Even though it is unlikely that this will be an annual requirement, our annual service check would identify if it was needed. Alternatively, we can add annual Solar PV cleaning to our annual service if you wish to do so.
- There are many different potential issues that could affect solar generation, they include:
Build-up of dirt on the solar panels reducing their efficiency - Solar PV cables being damaged by wildlife.
- Birds nesting under the solar panels.
- Inverter faults (normally displaying a fault code).
- Solar PV system switching off during very cloudy days.
- Solar PV panels could be damaged.
- Solar monitoring equipment or metering equipment gone faulty.
These issues are rare, but can create problems when not identified, meaning you could have lost precious solar generation, which in turn means a loss of revenue, either from energy savings arising from direct self-consumption or exporting your solar generation back to grid.
